Big Switch to deliver highly automated and scalable data-center network solutions on bare-metal infrastructure using SDN technology
Santa Clara, CA – July 22, 2014 – Big Switch Networks today announced a strategic partnership with In-Q-Tel (IQT), the independent strategic investment firm that identifies, adapts, and delivers innovative technology solutions to support the missions of the U.S. Intelligence Community.
This partnership will help Big Switch deliver advanced hyperscale networking solutions to both IQT customers and the broader enterprise data-center market. Networks built on the bare-metal SDN software from Big Switch are both cost efficient, as it is runs on inexpensive bare-metal switches, and highly automated.
“Working with IQT gives us the opportunity to take hyperscale data center technologies to both government projects and the broader networking market” said Douglas Murray, CEO of Big Switch Networks. “Private data center networks now have the flexibility to run on interchangeable bare-metal network switch hardware with SDN software.”
The partnership comes in response to IQT’s customers seeking practical ways to migrate their setups and move into building large cost-optimized data-center networks that can be run with a reduced management overhead.
“With Big Switch’s solutions our government customers will now have the ability to run demanding data-center networks at scale on bare-metal infrastructure,” said Greg Shipley, Vice President of IQT's Infrastructure and Security Practice. “Working with Big Switch's enterprise-hardened SDN technology means we’re getting refreshing simplicity in the deployment and management of networks, while having the flexibility to scale up to satisfy large and diverse workloads.”
