Interop New York Selects Big Switch Networks for InteropNet SDN Lab Test Environment
Big Switch Networks to Demo Big Cloud Fabric and Big Tap Monitoring Fabric, Products Built Using Bare Metal Ethernet Switch Hardware and SDN Software
SANTA CLARA, CA - Big Switch Networks, the company bringing hyperscale networking to data centers worldwide, today announced that it has been selected as a participant in Interop New York's first ever Software Defined Networking (SDN) Lab Test Environment. The InteropNet test lab will showcase the capabilities of an SDN-enabled network to raise awareness of concepts that affect the future design and implementation of enterprise networks. Big Switch products will be shown interoperating with SDN offerings from eight other organizations. More information on Interop New York's InteropNet SDN Lab is available here. The Lab will be open October 1 and 2 during Interop New York at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
Big Switch Networks will demo its fit-for-purpose Big Tap Monitoring Fabric and Big Cloud Fabric products built on bare metal ethernet switch hardware and SDN software. Big Tap Monitoring Fabric, with a recently released v4.0, enables data center operators to consolidate security, packet capture and performance monitoring tools into centralized tool farms. Announced in July, Big Cloud Fabric is shipping to first customers today (FCS), and has already secured more than $1 million in pre-FCS orders, along with a stream of positive product reviews.
In continuing to enhance educational opportunities, engineers from Big Switch will conduct interactive whiteboard sessions, which will take place October 1 and 2 at 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. on the expo floor.
"It's exciting to see how SDN has matured from a nacent technology in our first Interop SDN Lab four years ago to real products with the simplicity and resiliency that customers can depend on." -- Rob Sherwood, CTO, Big Switch Networks
The InteropNet Labs are standards-based test and implementation areas for emerging technologies. Engineers from participating companies have developed a number of live demonstrations to educate Interop attendees on the latest principles, functions, and features of SDN technology and the concepts that could disrupt current network practices.
"Staying true to Interop's commitment to interoperability, we're excited to implement both open source software and vendor solutions in the InteropNet SDN Test Lab," said Glenn Evans, Lead Engineer, InteropNet. "With live demonstrations of emerging technologies, the Lab will aim to uncover whether SDN offerings are ready and suited for the enterprise environment."
Vendors selected to participate in the InteropNet SDN Lab include: Big Switch Networks, CenturyLink Business, Cormant, HP, Interface Masters, Meru Networks, Opengear, Server Technology, and Telchemy. The InteropNet SDN Lab is open to all attendees. For more information about InteropNet Labs, visit http://bit.ly/SDNLabEnv.
